| WSDL Fall 2011 Line Up |
Exciting new additions to the WSDL programming schedule this Labor Day!
Some
changes are coming to the WSDL, 90.7 FM lineup beginning Labor Day, September 5th. You'll find
more international programming to keep you informed of world events,
more thought provoking shows to stimulate your mind, and programs
with useful information you can use every day.
The 9AM
re-broadcast of Morning Edition will be replaced with what we are
calling the 9AM Mid-Morning Coffee Break. Give your ears something
interesting to listen to as you enjoy that second cup of joe.
The Mid Morning Coffee break begins each Monday at 9AM with Living on Earth.
Hosted by Steve Curwood, Living on Earth delves into the leading issues
affecting the world we inhabit. As the population continues to rise and
the management of the earth's resources becomes even more critical,
Living on Earth examines the issues facing our increasingly
interdependent world.
Monday night at 8PM, we continue to bring you Travel with Rick Steves.
Rick and his guests bring you tips and tricks to make your travel plans
successful. Travel with Rick Steves is a great way to learn about the
world, even if you never plan to leave the house.
Concerned
about the state of the news? Wondering why the major media outlets are
as good (or as bad) as they are? Find out every Tuesday at 9AM with
NPR's On the Media, the news program about news programs.
Tuesday evenings at 8PM, listen to The Book Show
for a half hour conversation with the most fascinating authors around.
If you are always wondering what to read next, The Book Show is for you.
At 8:30PM, explore the known universe with Planetary Radio.
We
continue broadcasting On Delmarva, our own locally produced program
about the Chesapeake Bay region each Wednesday morning at 9AM. Host Marc
Steiner brings you the people and places who make our land and way of
life so unique.
We continue to bring you Prime Time Radio
from the AARP each Wednesday evening at 8PM. As 97 million Baby Boomers
turn 50 over the next decade, Prime Time Radio explores the issues and
politics that concern us all.
On Thursday at 9AM, we have two excellent half hour programs. Latino USA brings
you thoughtful coverage of the most rapidly-expanding segment of our
population. At 9:30AM 51% covers current issues from an independent
woman's perspective.
Get first-hand accounts of the ongoing debt crisis and the European Union's response via Inside Europe every Thursday evening at 8PM. Deutsche Welle Radio brings you world news from an international perspective.
On
Fridays, we are pleased to announce that our own locally produced talk
show, Delmarva Today is moving to a weekly format. At 9AM, Delmarva Public Radio
News Director Don Rush sits down for an in-depth half hour interview
with the folks who make the news. At 9:30AM, hear an insightful
audio documentary courtesy of With Good Reason.
If you are a fan of Talk of the Nation's Science Friday, you'll want to tune in Friday evening at 8 for Tech Nation.
Tech Nation continues to feature the fresh interview style of Dr.
Moira Gunn, a former NASA scientist and engineer, as she focuses on the
impact of technology in America today.
Weekend Programming Changes
On
the weekends we all want a break from the constant flow of news and
information that we hear all week. The weekend is a time to relax,
enjoy a laugh and spend time with friends and family. We hope you find
the new weekend line up more closely matches with your weekend lifestyle.
In an effort to make the weekend lineup less confusing, we have
moved all re-broadcast programs to the same time slot on both Saturday
and Sunday. That means you can catch Car Talk Sunday at 10AM if you
miss it on Saturday at 10AM. Barb and Kathy, the 2 Boomer Babes, can be
heard at 11AM on both Saturday and Sunday. Finally, if you are unable to
listen to A Prairie Home Companion at 6PM on Saturday, you can hear it
at 6PM on Sunday.
Start your Saturday morning off right with Growing Bolder at 7AM. For active-lifestyle baby boomers, this weekly 60-minute program
feature stories, advice and inspirational insight from men and women
who believe it's not about age; it's about attitude.
Our Saturday WSDL schedule remains unchanged from Weekend Edition at 8AM through This American Life at 1PM.
At 2PM on Saturday afternoon, join us for The People's Pharmacy
. Hosts Joe and Terry Graedon have become two of the nation's leading
health care authorities. With backgrounds in pharmacology, nutrition,
and medical anthropology, the Graedons have joined forces to explore the
most interesting, compelling, and controversial health and medical
issues of our time. And they do it in a fun and entertaining way.
The
Splendid Table, public radio's preeminent food and cooking show, moves
to Saturdays at 3PM. Here's a suggestion; get inspired to make a
special meal from the Splendid Table, listen to our programs while you
go out to the store and while you prepare the meal, and have something
tasty to eat while you listen to A Prairie Home Companion and John
Kalb's Just Folks show at 8PM.
At 4PM, take charge of your wallet and make sense of the financial world with host Tess Vigland and Marketplace Money .
You'll
find some exciting new programming on Sundays as well. Tune in at noon
to hear the best of Terry Gross and Fresh Air Weekend. At 1PM, hear
thinkers and performers deliver lectures and onstage conversations in City Arts and Lectures. Past speakers include Garrison Keillor, Tina Fey, and actor Clive Owen.
From Radio Netherlands, hear something entirely different every Sunday at 2PM on Earth Beat.
Earth Beat is more than just another show about the environment. Engage
in a global discussion of where our planet is heading, and our role in
shaping it.
Speaking of doing things to the earth, You Bet Your
Garden, the popular regional gardening program, remains on the air at
3PM. Mark McGrath, a frequent visitor to our area, knows a thing or two
about how to make those plants grow in your backyard without the use of
environmentally harmful chemicals.
If you missed On Delmarva
with Marc Steiner on Wednesday morning at 9AM, you can catch the
re-broadcast Sunday afternoon at 4PM, right before All Things Considered
Sunday at 5PM and the repeat of A Prairie Home Companion at 6PM.
We have something fun planned for Sunday evenings. Turn off that television and give your mind a mental workout at 8PM with Says You!
- the lively game of words and wit played before live audiences across
the country. Richard Sher, the host of Says You!, brings you the fun
every single week.
The wordplay and wit continues Sunday evening at 9PM with A Way With Words.
If you are a card-carrying member of the grammar police or just someone
who wonders why we drive on a parkway and park on a driveway, you love
exploring the English language with A Way With Words.
We
hope you enjoy all the new changes to the NPR News/Talk, WSDL 90.7 FM.
Don't forget, if you cannot pick us up over the air, you can always
listen to us on your computer, smartphone or other device via our
internet stream. For the complete WSDL News/Talk 90.7 Fall Schedule, please click here.
